TORNADO CONFIRMED IN CRAWFORD COUNTY

CLEAN-UP IS UNDERWAY FOLLOWING YESTERDAY’S SEVERE STORMS IN THE AREA.  THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS CONFIRMED THAT AN EF-2 TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN IN CONNEAUTVILLE AREA IN CRAWFORD COUNTY.  THE STORM RIPPED THE ROOF OFF OF A NURSING HOME FACILITY, CAUSING 2 RESIDENTS TO BE INJURED.  OFFICIALS SAY THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT 2:45 AND WAS ABOUT 50 YARDS WIDE WITH CONTAINED WINDS OF 115 MILES PER HOUR.  TORNADO WARNINGS WERE ALSO ISSUED FOR MANY OTHER COUNTIES IN THE AREA, AND THERE WERE REPORTS OF FUNNEL CLOUDS IN THE CLEARFIELD, BROOKVILLE AND REYNOLDSVILLE AREAS, BUT THERE’S NO CONFIRMED REPORTS THAT THEY WERE, IN FACT, TORNADOES AS OF NOW.
